Yes Virginia!

On Friday, December 8th 2017, Drama Club put on their first performance of the school year. It was called Yes, Virginia. The play was holiday themed production, based around an 8 year old who is trying to decide, whether there is truly a Santa Claus. She tries many ways, finds lots of proof and inevitably figures out the true spirit of Christmas and that Santa is indeed real. The BHS drama club has been working on this for many months and did an outstanding job! According to Isabelle Rubio, who played Virginia, the play is to show that the ¨meaning of Christmas isn't about presents; it's about spending time with each other.” They had a public performance on Friday night. They also had two special performances for elementary school kids from all around the town. I had the privilege of getting to attend the morning production of Yes, Virginia. The boys gym had been transformed from a gym into a stage. The kids were in 3rd grade and were very excited, even before the show started. They sat and watched the show eagerly and enjoyed the production. They were especially excited when Santa Claus made an appearance at the end and gave them all candy canes. The kids had a great time and it showed. After the show there was a meet and greet with the cast. During this time, the cast got time to talk to their audience. Part of the cast were actually brought to tears because of the amazing reaction from the kids. When asked what was her favorite part of the play, Rubio said, ¨ Seeing the kids and how excited they were when we were performing, it was truly amazing.” The drama club put on a great show, and it is probably something most of those kids will never forget!
