Presidents' Day

Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Presidents’ Day? Or what it is even? Well let’s find the origin and the current facts on said day.

This holiday was established in 1885, and was originally celebrated as two three-day weekends, one for Lincoln and one for Washington. That was changed recently to one four-day weekend.

Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is February twelfth, while George Washington’s birthday is February twenty-second.

Presidents’ Day never falls on the actual birthday of any American president. Four chief executives—George Washington, William Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan were born in February, but their birthdays all come either too early or late to coincide with Presidents’ Day, which is always celebrated on the third Monday of the month.
