Rumors and Truths

Last week at Barstow High School, there was a rumor going around that there was going to be a school shooter. It went around all social media, and most students even stayed home out of fear that something was going to happen. The one who was the reason for the shooting threat made a post on twitter stating he was going to shoot up the school. He shall remain nameless, because the point in this article is not to attack that person. We should recognize how lucky we truly are that nothing ended up happening and things have been able to segue back to normal. You might have also heard or read about what happened in Florida. Just think, that could have easily been us. It is very sad, upsetting and unjust what happened in Florida, but reasons like that is why we can’t just take the rumor as a joke. School shootings are very serious, and it could happen at any time. We should always be aware, we never usually know the motive of the shooter but hopefully we can use this incident to prevent stuff like this in the near future. We should all be very thankful, that all that it was at our school was a rumor. Our condolences, prayers and best wishes go out to the families who lost a loved one in Florida, you have our support.
