Is it Fair for Teachers to Assign a Lot of Work?
Is being assigned a lot of work in school a bad thing? Most teachers at Barstow High School seem to think it isn’t, but as a student I find it very stressful. It is stressful because having many assignments to do in one class is hard enough but if you have 7 periods of work like that to do it is way too much. Even though some teachers assign a lot of work to do there are still some that don’t assign a lot and make it easy for us to do and not making it occupy a lot of time. Teachers like these make the work easier and easier to do and give us time to do it in class so we won’t have it as homework. They do this because they know how stressful it is to have 7 periods worth of work to do. I feel like teachers should limit the amount of work they give to students.
Most students find having a lot of work is hard and stressful. All this work we are given takes time out of other stuff we do like spending time with friends and family. Also now that we are in high school, students are starting to get jobs and it is hard for them to keep up their grades and go to work at the same time. Even if the student doesn’t work they can still be busy after school and having homework to do can be stressful. A lot of students who aren’t able to do their work right after school have to stay up all night doing this. Staying up late and having to get up early is not a good thing. Studies have show that teenagers need at least 9 hours of sleep. It is hard to get that 9 hours if you’re up all night doing homework. Also if a student doesn’t do it right after school and because they don’t want to stay up all night they don’t do it at all, or they spend the next day doing it in other classes and this takes away from paying attention in those classes.
In my personal opinion I feel like teachers should be easier on students and not assign a lot of work to do, or make the work easier to do.
