The NFL is known for amazing plays and big hits, but is it getting soft? The NFL has been cracking down on making the game of football “safer”. Everyone including Football players in the league have been buzzing, especially about one particular penalty “roughing the passer”. Roughing the quarterback has been “enforced”, by officials and this has become a big problem for not only players, but for fans of the game. Should this problem be as big as it is? The NFL has said this to this question. A rushing defender is prohibited from committing such intimidating and punishing acts as “stuffing” a passer into the ground or unnecessarily wrestling or driving him down after the passer has thrown the ball ... When tackling a passer who is in a defenseless posture (e.g., during or just after throwing a pass), a defensive player must not unnecessarily or violently throw him down and land on top of him with all or most of the defender’s weight. Instead, the defensive player must strive to wrap up the passer with the defensive players arms and not land on the passer. The rule has put officials in a terrible position by having to call something that’s clearly just a part of the game. In conclusion do you think the NFl is getting soft?
