The Balderdash Clash
As you more than likely know already, the Government has recently been “shutdown”. What does that mean? Well, simply put, a government shutdown occurs when Congress fails to pass sufficient appropriation bills or continuing resolutions to fund federal government operations and agencies, or when the President refuses to sign into law such bills or resolutions.
In this specific occasion, our President decided that just because Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer won’t give him permission to build his precious wall, that he needs to shut down our government.
In the meeting of those three political individuals, Pelosi and Schumer recollect it very well they say. According to them, Trump walked in and asked Ms. Pelosi if she would allow the wall to be built, and when she said no, his response was ¨Well then we have nothing to discuss, bye bye¨.
He later made a tweet about it, shocker, I know. This tweet read ¨Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time. I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!¨
Chuck Schumer spoke following the Presidentś tweet, stating that he asked Trump “Why won’t you open the government and stop hurting people?” and his whole response was “Because then you won’t give me what I want.” Schumer recalls the experience as ¨yet another temper tantrum¨. Mr. Trump later defended himself from that statement, saying that he not only DID NOT throw a tantrum, but NEVER does.
Can you imagine that we have a president who has to argue about whether or not he has tantrums? Well, unfortunately, this is the America we live in now. It’s great now, huh?
