University of Miami
Miami is one of the most popular go-to vacation destinations, especially over the summer, because of their beautiful beaches. Imagine going to school there! If you attend the University of Miami, you’ll be going to school and living in paradise!
The University of Miami is a private, nonsectarian, research university. It is located in Coral Gables, Florida. This university was founded in 1925 by a group of citizens who wanted to offer unique opportunities to study different things. There are 12 different colleges/schools within the university, which include a law school, the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, School of Architecture, and College of Arts and Sciences. In 2019, the University of Miami was ranked 53rd among a national list of universities known as “America’s Best Colleges”.
Like many other big universities, the University of Miami offers an athletic program. The university’s most popular sports programs are football and baseball. Other sports are: men and women’s soccer, basketball, cross-country, diving, golf, tennis, swimming and track and field. The university’s athletic teams are known as The Hurricanes, commonly referred to as the Canes. Even though it’s not a sport, the university also has a marching band, known as the Band of the Hour.
The average GPA to attend the University of Miami is 3.6, so your high school GPA will have to be a bit above average. However, you can compensate for a lower GPA by taking IB and AP classes, which are harder than average classes. These classes look very good to colleges when looking at your high school transcript, even if you don’t pass the class with the best grade. Though these classes may seem a bit challenging, if you work hard and put in effort, you can still do great in whatever class you take!
This university is quite popular, especially to celebrities. There are multiple well-known notable alumni, such as actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, and singer/songwriter Enrique Iglesias.
