Are the Warriors a bigger threat for the future than we imagine?
David Griego
At the start of the 2019 it was obviously that barring any serious injuries the Golden State Warriors would be the unanimous favorites to win the finals. With the signing of Demarcus (Boogie ) Cousin’s adding yet another all star to the team it was clear the golden state warriors were on there way for yet another championship.[3rd in 4 years ]With that being said , we are now in March of the 2018-2019 season and so far there’s been a lot of drama with the Warriors this season. Draymond and KD get into an altercation early in the season , once boogie is healthy it seems the warriors are actually worse defensively, and rumors are heavily leading towards Kevin Durant leaving New York. (to potentially join Kyrie Irving or possibly another star) With that being said , the rest of the NBA (besides the Warriors ) should still be very afraid of the Overly powered Golden State team. With all the drama developing teams are now looking at the warriors as maybe beatable , however Wednesday nights game against the Rockets (who Golden State has lost their previous three games to this season) was an absolute statement. Kevin Durant was out, moment was on Houston’s side as the warriors just suffered an embarrassing loss to the Suns of all teams. This game is likely looking to be the western conference finals so emotions were high for this one , and you know who stepped up. Demarcus , Boogie , Cousins. The warriors showed us on any given night at least two players can drop 25+ ( Klay being the other player for this game ) and to add to that, Curry dropped 24. To mention again, Kevin Durant , who is considered their best player didn’t play and you had 3 guys combine for 81. Why is this game considered a statement ? Because the Warriors showed us they can lose Kevin Durant , they can lose even draymond maybe with his value decreasing , but even with that being said that means they have more money to offer Klay and Demarcus and as we seem Wednesday night , that squad will drop 81, of the 106 points scored. A big 3 of Klay , Curry and cousins could still contend for a title for the next 5+ years. There rumors Klay Thomson could be looking to leave as well , but Klay has always said he looks to be a Warrior for a long time. If the Warriors do win a Ring and Durant leaves , why would Boogie too? They have the money to keep him , he’s in a winning situation and he’ll be the 2nd/3rd option on most nights as right now , he’s the 3rd/4th. However , whatever option he is Demarcus Cousins is a guy that can give you 25 and 12 on any given night,(25 pts 12 reb) who is also one of the best passing big men in the game.
