Barstow Track Team Faces Silverado In Adelanto

Despite the the rain and cold the Barstow High School Track and Field team persevered and competed in their first DSL track meet against Silverado High School on March 20th.

Jeffrey Holliday at 5 minutes 9.46 seconds and Rodrigo Arias placed first and second at 5 minutes 9.65 seconds in the boys Varsity 1600 meter (1 mile) run. It was a very close race with the top four finishing within one second of each other but overall four students from Barstow High placed in the top 5 for the Varsity 1600: Jalen Griego (4th place) at 5 minutes 10 seconds and Dayne O’Brian (5th place) at 5 minutes 10 seconds. Ja’Patrick Smith from Silverado placed 3rd at 5 minutes 9.95 seconds. For girls Varsity 1600 only two girls from Barstow High School placed in the top five with Iliana Piceno from Silverado coming in first at 6 minutes 11.33 seconds, Karen Morales from Barstow came in second at 6 minutes 11.84 seconds, Alexis Oatman from Sliverado came in third at 6 minutes 14 seconds.
