A Vacation to Rome

There are plenty of things to do in Rome, but some of the places that you should definitely visit are the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and some ancient ruins at the Roman Forum. At the Colosseum, there used to be gladiator combats and animal fights. It is the largest amphitheater in the Roman Empire. It packs up to 50,000 people inside the Colosseum. Four million people visit the Colosseum annually. If you visit the ancient ruins at the Roman Forum, you could see how old the ruins look. The ruins have been there since around 500 B.C. The ruins used to be smaller, but they were enlarged by Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar, Domitian, and Trajan. The Pantheon used to be the burial place for Roman kings. It was built between 118 and 128 AD. It was the world's largest dome.

Travelling can be very expensive, so make sure you always have extra money on you. Costs for transportation is $20 per ticket to take a slow train, but it is $50 per ticket for a fast train. You could also use taxis or you could walk if your destination is close to where you are staying. A mid-range priced hotel costs around $120 a night. There are cheaper and more expensive hotels, but these are the average priced ones. Attraction prices vary, if you love museums and art galleries, then you would probably spend around $300 on those things. If you just go to basic attractions, then you would spend around $150. Food and drink prices also vary, but these are the average prices. You would spend around $5 on breakfast, $7 on lunch, and $20 on dinner. The cost for food every day based on these prices would come out to $32, but if you get a snack in the day you would spend around $35 on food and drinks every day. The last thing you would most likely spend money on is shopping. If you really love shopping you would probably spend around $200 on it, but if you just want to do some basic shopping you would spend around $150.

Some things that you should take into consideration while planning a trip to Rome is when the right time to go is. June and July are usually the most convenient months to go, but they are the most crowded and humid/hot months of the year. You have to remember to wear appropriate shoes, because you will walk a lot. Always carry water with you. Buying water from restaurants and snack carts is expensive. Water fountains to refill your water bottles are very clean, so carrying water bottles would probably be a smart idea. The last thing you should think about is how to keep all your personal belongings safe. When travelling there is always a risk of losing things or people stealing your things, so you should try to find a way to keep all your things safe.
