College Spotlight
Hello BHS my name is Tre Gaskins and this week I’m doin an article on College spotlight and the college Im doing is Stanford University. As you may already know Stanford is one of the best colleges in the U.S. Stanford is recognized for its wealth and academically strong students the school has a graduation rate of about 95 percent. Stanford is one of the worlds leading research universities and is known for its entrepreneurial character, drawn from its founders, Jane and Leland Stanford. Areas of Stanford’s excellence range from the humanities to social sciences to engineering and the sciences.
Stanford is also well known for is sports teams, there are many Great professional athletes from stanford such as, Richard Sherman, Andrew Luck, and Christian McCaffrey. Stanford students have won medals in every olympic game since 1908, winning 244 Olympic medals total, 129 of them in gold, so yes they’re sports teams are pretty successful. In the 2008 beijing Olympic Games, Stanford won more olympic medals than any other university in the United States.
Last but not least Stanford is located in the bay area of California 35 miles south of San francisco and 20 miles north of San Jose, Stanford University is in the heart of California’s dynamic “silicon valley”, home to yahoo, google, and many other cutting-edge companies that were started by and continued to be led by stanford alumni and faculty.
