Student Spotlight
Sports is what she knows best, and being able to be a gold medalist in the 2020 Olympics is her dream! For our student spotlight this week, we have a freshman: Angelina Vasquez. She comes from a family of 4. Her mom is from Ecuador, and her dad is from Honduras; known for its rich natural resources. Growing up, sports was all Angelina saw. She watched it on the television, played it, and watched her family play. She would always love to watch her dad and brother play anything. They always had something to talk about, because her brother played soccer and her dad runs. Angelina decided at a young age that she wanted to be apart of that. She wanted to be able to ¨fit in¨ with her brother and be able to be involved in the conversations with them. Her dad has trained her all her life in sports, and she has played on Co-Ed teams growing up. She plays soccer, basketball, Xcountry, and she runs track. She is a very determined person in sports and in her schooling. Angelina is only 14 years old, and her future is looking very bright!
If Angelina isn't busy playing sports, she loves to catch up with her family and friends. Her favorite soccer player is Alex Morgan. She would love to get a free scholarship to either UCLA or UC Berkeley. She's unsure about what she wants to do after college, but of course she's excited to see what her future has in store for her as well as her supporters and loved ones. Her favorite color is pastel yellow, and her favorite song would have to be Time Machine by Willow Smith.
She is currently in Xcountry right now, but will be participating in soccer and basketball next season! If you want to see Angelina in action in any of these sports, be sure to come out, support and see how determined she is to compete in the things that she loves to do most.
