A Plumber Returning Home from Work Talked a Man Off The Brooklyn Bridge in a Snowstorm
On December 2, 2019, a New York plumber named Joey Hansen saw something that he would never forget. Joey was on his way home from work in a snowstorm. On the Brooklyn Bridge, he witnessed a man who was standing one of the Bridge’s many beams. He couldn't help but wonder why what was he doing up there. He claimed his first instinct was “Oh my god that person doesn’t belong up there.” Joey knew he couldn’t do anything about this. He was on the passenger’s side of his friend's car and rolled down the window to get the man’s attention. His goal was to give him inspiration and tried to reach out as a friend and not a stranger. Fortunately, it worked and the victim walked off the beam and into safety. The victim of his demons is 24 years old. NYPD won’t give out his identity so he will remain anonymous. Joey knew by the way he was talking to this man that he was making him upset which then he knew he made an impact on him. Joey stated he was “Happy and relieved.” NYPD stated the 24 year old was “emotionally disturbed.” He is now in custody by police and also will be taken to the emergency services to get the help he needs. Joey hoped he gets the help he needs and goes on to be happy.
