A High School Football Player Who Killed His Pregnant Girlfriend has been Sentenced to 65 Years in P

Aaron Trejo was finally sentenced to 65 years in prison for killing his pregnant girlfriend in 2018. In December of 2018, Brena confronted Aaron about being six months pregnant with his child. According to court documents Brena and Aaron didn’t want the child. Court documents also say that he then stabbed his six month pregnant girlfriend, choked her with her own scarf and wrapped her in a plastic bag. He then proceeded to throw Brena’s body in a dumpster and also threw her phone and the knife he used to kill her with in the river. Aaron’s reasoning for killing his girlfriend is by the time Brena told him about the pregnancy, it was already too late to have an abortion. From the time Brena told Aaron she was pregnant, he already planned killing her and the baby court documents also say. Aaron Trejo pleaded guilty for Murder and Feticide. He was sentenced October 29, 2019 at St. Joseph County Superior Court to 65 years in prison. 55 years for murder, and another 10 to 16, to be served consecutively, for feticide. He was given a more than a year of credit for time already served. When we think about Social Issues we think of topics that we can debate on. Abortion, LGBTQ relationships, gun rights, the president, etc. I chose this story because Pro life or Pro choice, what he did to Brena Rouhselang was absolutely wrong and I hope her family can find peace now since Aaron Trejo has been thankfully sentenced to almost the rest of his life in prison.
