Firefighter Killed while trying to put out El Dorado fire

A firefighter by the name of Charles Morton was killed from trying to put out the fire that was started from a gender reveal party.. He had been working for 18 years as a firefighter. In the 18 years that includes 14 years with the Forest Service.

The El Dorado fire started on Saturday, September 5 during labor day weekend. The fire started at El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa from a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device that was used at a gender reveal party.

As of Tuesday, September 8 the fire was burning east of Los Angeles and forced about 3,000 people to evacuate. Also had already burned 10,574 acres after just starting Saturday. Thursday, September 10 the fire had already destroyed 10 buildings and damaged six. On Friday, September 11 the fire burned 21,000+ acres and was barely 66% contained.

When the fire started the people at the party tried to put the fire out with a water bottle before calling 911.
