Unsolved Mysteries

Sandy Hook

By Starr Perkins

Adam Lanza, a gunman, stormed into Sandy Hook Elementary School and murdered 6 adults along with 20 children on December 14, 2012. Many investigators suggest that Adam decided to create this crime due to possible mental issues he had suffered with, meanwhile others can’t help but feel that he was just a monster with sick obsessions.

Investigators stated “Lanza was a young man with clear mental health issues. He appeared to be isolated, even communicating with his mother through email…” Adam Lanza left no clear motive on why he drove ten miles out of his way to slay innocent children. “Lanza had a spreadsheet of mass murders. He also had literature related to pedophilla but no child pornography.” The report says. If there was no motive on why he did it then the real question is what made Adam Lanza snap? The Sandy Hook elementary School shooter was not only obsessed with mass murder and society isolated, but he expressed a “scorn for humanity.” Yes I understand that Lanza had issues but were all his issues so bad that he had to take out all his anger and frustration on kids? It was just another day of school for these kids, it was almost the holidays for them but they never got a chance to open their presents on Christmas day.

What did they do so wrong? What did they do to him? I don’t understand. I guess I’m too young but then I start to think about all the teachers that got hurt standing in the middle. All of them are heroes and were so strong, strong enough to take more than one bullet to their bodies which I find admirable. I’m talking about Charlotte Bacon, Daniel Barden, Olivia Engel, Josephine Gay, Ana Marquez-Greene, Dylan Hockley, Madeleine Hsu, Catherine Hubbard, Chase Kowalski, Jesse Lewis, James Mattoli, Grace McDonnell, Emily Parker, Jack Pinto, Noah Pozner. Ages 6 to 7 years old. Each of them taking three to eleven bullets.

“Noah Pozner’s tiny body took eleven bullets.” Said Connecticut's medical examiner Dr. Wayne Carver II. “I’ve been on the job for thirty years but this has to be the worst I’ve ever seen.” He states. “Lanza’s issues with social communication and problems with crowds worsened in later years. He was also diagnosed with asperger's syndrome.” The report claims. However it makes no mention of him being violent and aggressive. Caroline Previdi, Jessica Rekos, Benjamin Wheeler, Allion Wyatt, and Avielle Richman were also gunned down at the scene but located in a different classroom CNN.com reports. Emily Parker was the smallest victim of the massacre and sustained horrific damage to her body. Olivia Engel was the only victim who was found alive after the shooting but later died in the arms of a Newtown officer. A new report said that “Super Mario Brothers” was a favorite game of the Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza. He had no history of violent behavior. But he was interested in mass murders. A person who has these types of issues mostly tends to act in terrible ways but taking the lives of the innocent is unexceptable. Five children were taken to the hospital but passed a few minutes later. Victoria Soto was a first grade teacher her protected her students from gunfire by hiding them all in a closet and when the shooter entered the room she told them him that all the kids were in the gym but when eleven kids ran out from their hiding spots the gunman began to shoot at the students but Soto jumped in front of them taking the bullets. As for the rest of her class, they didn't have a chance as Lanza started firing at their tiny bodies. In the next classroom over where five children were in Lanza spotted them and ended their lives. Once he was done with his killing spree he eventually shot himself in the head, killing him instantly. “From all this information it’s hard to draw any conclusions. But it’s fair to say that chronic mental health issues are common among mass shooters, including Lanza.” CNN concludes. But this case still remains unsolved till this day, what we only know is that a lot of lives were lost December 14, 2012 and that we have registered in all of our heads that those kids are never coming home.
