Meme

A meme is a concept or behavior that spreads from person to person. This includes beliefs, fashion, stories, and phrases. Most memes are called “Internet Memes”. A meme is also a humorous image, video, and a piece of text. It is copied and spread rapidly by internet users. 

My topic will be on sports, but more specifically the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have been very unsuccessful for a long time. They did acquire Josh Rosen in a trade from Arizona so they could draft Kyler Murray, but that hasn't helped because he has just been named starter after being backed up to Ryan Fitzpatrick for the first 2 weeks. A big reason of why they are unsuccessful at the moment, is because they keep shipping off players. Last year, Miami's outside linebacker Cameron Wake, one of the best in the NFL, was let go by the Dolphins and picked up by the Tennessee Titans. Star wide receiver Jarvis Landry, was traded to the Cleveland Browns for draft picks. Most recently, Minkah Fitzpatrick, which was Miami's best player in the secondary, was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Getting rid of star players isn't what you want to do if you want to be in the race for a Lombardi Trophy. Many players aren't happy with the organization and have requested a trade. They have no faith at all, so Josh Rosen is going to have to rally up this team if they want a chance to play in the Super Bowl, or even a chance at a winning season at this point.

It's been 3 years since the Miami Dolphins made the playoffs. They lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round of the 2016 playoffs. They're current playoff record is 20-21. It isn't good to be negative in the NFL, because people get to questioning the coaching staff, or even the owner. So the fact that they are negative in the playoffs, is not good at all. Miami is going to need to step up their game for the next couple of years. 

The last time the Dolphins were 1st in the AFC East, was in 2008. Ever since has been the New England Patriots, dominating the division. That's what this meme means by saying they have been in New Englands shadow for 10 years. The patriots have been 1st in the AFC East since 2008. It's been difficult for them to beat the Patriots lately, so winning the division this year is highly unlikely, considering New England is a Super Bowl contending team.

The Baltimore Ravens had a field day with the Dolphins to open up the 2019 season. They didn't look ready to step on the field at all. Offense, defense, special teams, nothing was clicking for the Miami Dolphins. This meme is self explanatory. Many Dolphins players wanted an out of Miami after getting embarrassed by Baltimore. Minkah Fitzpatrick's wish was granted after being traded to Pittsburgh just 2 days ago. 

Miami needs to take time to build. This year is not going to be their year, and maybe not next year or the next. If they plan to build for the next 3-5 years, they can become a very successful and dangerous team. The AFC East wouldn't be blown out of the water by the Patriots. Miami could fight them for 1st place, and it would be exciting. Even Super Bowl contenders every year. Big things can happen for the Miami Dolphins in the next couple of years if they can play it smart.
