Ocean Trash
By Isabella Rodriguez
One current environmental issue we have is ocean trash. In some places over 80% is ocean trash and most of that is due to plastics like straws, water bottles , plastic bags, etc. These objects are a deadly threat to ocean life. Some ways you can fix this is by reducing our use of plastic and recycling. Currently we have over 269,000 tons of trash that float in the ocean.
Sea animals that are harmed are :
Fish
Seabirds
Turtles
Dolphins
Sea lion
The artist who inspired me were Mary Ogle and Piet Mondiran. Mary Ogle inspired me because she made her own art piece on ocean trash. The save the Turtles by Mary Ogle was made July 10, 2019. She says “ Sea Turtles are in even more danger now after the devastating oil spill in the gulf, remind everyone how important it is to save the turtle” The other artist who inspired me was Piet Mondrian, just for the simple fact that he only uses primary colors. He is a Dutch painter and one of the greatest of the 20th century.
