There are many single parents throughout the world. In the United States, 83% of single parents are mothers. Nearly two-thirds were born to mothers under the age of 30. Many teens have been getting pregnant and end up parenting on their own. Either it’s the mom who stays, the dad, or in some cases it’s neither. Either way, this has become an issue in our society today.
Some of you may be thinking what even is a social issue. A social issue is a problem that influences many individuals within a society. In our society, there has been many teens getting pregnant. It could be by accident, or it could even be on purpose. Most teens that get pregnant aren’t as prepared as they would be if they had waited until they were older or considered an adult. Raising a child is very hard. To do it on your own is even harder. Although the responsibilities are the same, it would just be twice the work because you don’t have that extra body you could lean on to lift some weight off your shoulders.
Actions always come with consequences. It’s your decision about what you want to do with your choices and where they will lead you in life. The statistics show that there are many single parents throughout the world. Try and get to know the person before you decide to have a baby. Many parents were left to raise their child alone because the other one wasn’t ready. Every child deserves to have both of their parents in their lives. Think of how what you do will affect your future, and if it’s for a good reason.
